March is Save Your Vision Month and we’ve created this handy guide to help you make the most of your eye care.
The Do's
Schedule Regular Eye Exams - Make sure to have your eyes checked annually. Regular exams can help catch issues early and preserve your vision.
Wear Protective Eyewear - Always wear sunglasses with UV protection as well as safety glasses when doing activities that could harm your eyes.
Take Breaks from Screens - Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps reduce eye strain from digital devices.
Get Blue Light Blocking Lenses - If you must spend significant time looking at screens, invest in blue light blocking lenses which can protect your eyes. Improved sleep is an added bonus!
Maintain a Healthy Diet - Incorporate foods rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, to support your eye health. Think leafy greens, carrots, and fish!
Practice Good Hygiene - Always wash your hands before touching your eyes, and handle contact lenses with care.
The Don'ts
Don’t Skip Your Eye Exams - Neglecting your eye health can lead to serious issues down the line. Schedule that appointment!
Don’t Use Expired Eye Products - Avoid using old eye drops or makeup, as they can cause infections.
