Vontélle Eyewear Pacts with ViacomCBS Consumer Products
Vontélle Eyewear is working on a children’s eyewear line centered around Nickelodeon characters.
The deal with ViacomCBS Consumer Products will see the Black-woman-owned luxury eyewear brand rolling out three to four new frames a year based on characters from Nickelodeon shows, including Baby Shark’s Big Show!, PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Rugrats and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The line will be available beginning this December.
Vontélle // Brand introduction
Vontélle was founded by Tracy Vontélle Green and Nancey Harris, both women of color and very highly accomplished, to satisfy the demand for better-fitting vibrant, fashion-forward eyewear. Each of their products and accessories is designed and handcrafted to pay homage to their African ancestry with traditional colors and patterns that channel their African, Caribbean, and Latin heritage. Their patterns use many textiles and designs from highly identifiable, recognizable, and respected materials like mud cloth and kente cloth. These designs are tailored to empower humanity to see the world through a cultural and global lens.

Vontélle Eyewear is Born
In 2019, both Nancey Harris and her friend Tracy Green lost their eyeglasses. After they finished kicking themselves for losing expensive designer frames, they committed to buying from a Black-owned business to replace them. The challenge was that Black eyewear designers were few and far between. Not only were there very few African American eyewear designers, but they weren’t seeing designs and prints that stood out or excited them. Then and there the two ladies decided they would create their own eyewear company: Vontélle Eyewear.
